City of Gold Coast – Rubbish People

The Gold Coast has a litter problem. Our job was to get offenders to stop littering and encourage others to report incidents. So, we created ‘Only Rubbish People Litter’. An integrated campaign that reinforced the public opinion that littering was not acceptable. The campaign also saw the creation of ‘Rubbish People’, three oversized sculptures erected across the City, made entirely of rubbish.

Although works of art, these rubbish sculptures turned the natural beauty of the Gold Coast into a tip, and in doing so, encouraged people not to destroy what they came here to enjoy. The ‘Rubbish People’ picked up a Bronze BADC award in 2022 under the ‘Ambient & Special Build’ category.
